ThinkShapes prepares to celebrate 10th anniversary

The idea to open ThinkShapes Mail came to us in October of 2009, at a time when the economy had been less than stellar for over a year. We were a successful digital printing firm, but we realized that digital print was becoming a commodity. There were a lot of shops offering the same services. Prices were dropping as everyone was getting a bit desperate for business. And while we knew people loved us for our quality and impeccable service, we still wanted to stand out and give people something unique.

Shaped printing-McCafeThat’s when we discovered CMM (Customized Market Mail) or “shaped mail”.  We pitched this idea to a local ad agency who was handling the roll-out campaign for McDonald’s McCafe product.  Long story short, we sold them on the idea and 1 MILLION pieces later we were up and rolling! Note the personalization/use of variable data in the coffee cups making each individual piece unique to the recipient.

We’ve produced hundreds of shaped mailers and handouts since then.  Shaped mail, along with all the “regular” printing – flyers, brochures, saddle stitched booklets, etc – has kept us going (and profitable) for these last 10 years!
